Featuring the realistic, country-rustic gouache paintings of Jody Whitsell
Before painting her colorful dog portraits, Jody worked in gouache (opaque watercolors) and painted other things she loved. Being drawn to the wonderful textures of old worn items, she used her cherished antiques and americana collectibles as her subject matter, or she ventured out to photograph local rural scenes to use as reference for her rustic rural scenes.
Jody has won several awards, has a painting chosen to travel in a national exhibition, and has been juried into many prestigious art shows. "I love the challenge of painting convincing textures that make you feel them with your eyes!"
